I Had a cold can of Nature at Odd By Nature Brewing’s new satellite location, Odd By Worcester located at the Mid-Town Mall in the center of the “City Of The Seven Hills”. It’s a bright colorful spot with a 90’s pop culture that adds to the long overdue renovation of this once derelict spot.

First off, let’s talk about the aroma. As soon as you pour, you’re hit with a delightful floral bouquet of hops and a tantalizing mix of citrusy notes, with hints of grapefruit and tangerine. This initial olfactory experience sets the stage for what’s to come. Despite the powerful hop profile, the first taste is not overwhelming. There’s a wave of tropical fruit flavors with hints of pineapple and passionfruit, which add a sweetness to the brew. There’s also a maltiness that seems to hold it all together. This is an amazingly balanced IPA with a nice medium mouthfeel which makes it very easy to throw back. But be careful though, it is 8.1% ABV. This would be great with some spicy carnitas tacos and chichrone.

The Sonic Pairing: Since this is one of two collaborations with the band Sublime(the other being the 16 Oz. To Freedom) I would have to go with the collaboration between the band and two masters of Dub, “Sublime Meets Scientist And Mad Professor Inna L.B.C.” Eight gems from the band manipulated, reconstructed and psychedelicized by two of the greatest innovators of the style. Scientist’s take on “Garden Grove” bubbles and thumps like wort in a mash tun.(or a bong) His spacey treatment of “Santeria” seems like a spiraling twisted batch of taffy floating in orbit. Mad Professor’s treatment of “April 29, 1992” and “Pawn Shop” are more percussive with empty spaces that make the rhythm swing even harder. It’s a loving tribute to a barrier breaking band by two of their pioneering idols.
