Sonic Beer Blog #23: Medusa Brewing Company Rapid Refresh American Wheat Beer

This might be my go-to for the Summer. I know, I’ve said this about several other beers but I mean it this time!(maybe) There is nothing about this American Wheat Beer from Medusa Brewing Company that isn’t fun! This fruity and easy drinking brew will be great with any backyard cookout or sweaty basement band gig. The first whiff is sweet citrus, tangerine, mandarin, lemon and angel food cake with a bit of cardamom. The first sip is more orange and grain with lemon grass and mandarin. Rapid Refresh is not just a clever name, this ale will quench a heavy thirst post cornhole match, outdoor festival, or heavy grilling session.

The Sonic Pairing: This brew is the antidote to a hot sweaty adventure and that is exactly what “$5 At The Door” from Sublime is. Culled from recently unearthed tapes from a 1994 show at the Tressel Tavern in Everett, WA. Well before their 1996 self titled record broke them to the world and singer Bradley Nowell’s tragic death from a heroin overdose. The band is a loose, sloppy mess with the forward momentum of a rugby scrum. Throw in covers from Bad Brains, Descendants, Toots And The Maytals, Specials and The Grateful Dead and you’ve got a hazy bouncing good time. Just like this amazing wheat ale.

All beers featured in the Sonic Beer Blog can be found at Wachusett Wine And Spirits in West Boylston and Worcester.
