Sonic Beer Blog #6- Wachusett Brewing Co. Imperial Stout

Right off the bat when I see “Imperial Stout” I think of dark, menacing, boozy, heavy brews that will stop a train. But this limited release from Wachusett is only one of those things: Dark. I(t’s wicked dahk, kid) But this Imperial is surprisingly very drinkable with a layered effect after that first sip. Malty with a hint of coffee, caramel, and…maybe…cinnamon? That’s what I get anyway. There is a light cocoa finish. Definitely not like the monolithic Old Rasputin which is an imperial stout that will make you question your existence. This is a limited release so jump on it before it’s gone!

The Sonic Pairing: With it’s comforting nose of cocoa and coffee and it’s easy drinkablity I’d pair this with Neil Young’s breakthrough album “Harvest”. The Folk/country melodies are easily taken in but as it’s happening you discover these songs contain many complex stories and themes. Great for kicking back “Out On The Weekend” with your “Old Man”.

All beers featured in the Sonic Beer Blog can be found at Wachusett Wine And Sprits in West Boylston and Worcester.
